No 5 Kyle McCutcheon drew the No 1 Pill on the ReDraw of the Top 8 and the Pole Postion Start in the NMMRA 20 Lap Feature. Surviving 2 Yellow Flags Kyle then went Green to Checker and Won the $1000 1st Place Monies. A very close 2nd was LAS CRUCES No 20 Kyle Sager in his CAN T STOP SMOKING Ride taking home $750. No 88 Matt Ziehl in the ZIEHL BROS machine was 3rd as he out dueled 2009 NMMRA Champion PERALTA S No 19 Ronnie Smith. RIO RANCHOs Scott Box brought the No 40x A REAL MUFFLER Sprinter home in 5th. 1st Heat action saw McCutcheon in the lead only to see NMMRA 2009 Rookie of the Year No 62 Bill Mitchell find the Top groove and took his 2004 EAGLE to the Checker over McCutecheon and Smith. 2nd Heat was wired by Matt Ziehl ahead of Sager and Box. No 22b BO BAKER Wires THUNDER RACEWAY Main

Baker drew the No 1 Pill and took his JACKSON EQUIPMENT Sponsored ride wire to wire Saturday night. No 40x Scott Box ran 2nd until Lap 12 when No22m Jesse Baker brought out the Yellow when he lost his Oil Filter. The restart saw No 2 Stephen Nix put his PERFORMANCE PLUS ride into 2nd and 2009 Champion No 19 took the high side in 2 for 3rd. Lap 18 saw Smith overtake Nix and ran out of Laps to watch Baker take the Checker. Following Baker then was Smith, Nix, Box, No 62 2009 Rookie of the Year Bill Mitchell, No 12 Josh Grady, No 26 Randy Smith, No 52 David Burns, No 21p Paul Whitehead and No 01 Larry Stoerkel. Unfortunately was a short field of 12 as many apparently still down with issues, broken Quik Changes, motors, front ends, etc. Burns won the Tropht Dash from Grand, Nix and Whitehead. Pole position seems the place to Start as Nix wired the 1st Heat from Bo Baker, Box and Ronnie Smith. No 12 Grady then wired the 2nd Heat ahead of Jesse Baker, Randy Smith and No 31 Brian Hacker from Phoenix. July 3rd NMMRA again runs at WHITE SANDS RACEWAY. J W

STEVEN SUSSEX, JESSE BAKER Thunder Raceway WINNERS

Saturday night saw 14 NMMRA Sprints joined by 7 from ARIZONA take the Green in the 25 Lap Feature. The Top 8 in Passing Points saw No 27n Nick Auito on the Pole with No 74 Derek Williams outside him. A fast & Furious start was unfortunately Red Flaged in the 3rd Lap as No 21p Paul Whitehead collected the Turn 3 Pit Entrance WALL that severely damaged his PERFORMANCE Plus ride. Thankfully Paul was O.K. Starting 3rd was No 19 Ronnie who then led the 1st 14 Laps before No 62a Steven Sussex overtook him. Sussex in his ROSS PERFORMANCE sponsored machine, Owned by Bud Bishop who himself raced Sprints in Albuquerque 50 years ago, took the Win from No 19 Smith and the $1,200 1st Prize. They were followed by No 19t Gibbert, AZ Andy Reinbold, No 22b Bo Baker and No 22m Jesse Baker. Rounding out the Top 10 were No 0 Shon Duskin, No 74 Derek Willams, No 27n Nuick Auito, No 24 Jordan Mattson and No 62 Bill Mitchell. The 1st Heat went to Reinbold ahead of Jesse Baker and Ronnie Smith and also saw a Lap 1 Red Flag as No 29 Randy Smith tangled with the back wall, tearing off both right side tires and wheels. Thankfully Randy was O.K. and ran the Feature in his backup No 26 RANDYS ELECTIC machine. 2nd Heat Winner was Sussex from Bo Baker and No 21p Paul Whitehead. Our 3rd Heat saw Duskin over Auito and Mitchell. SUNDAY 18 Sprinters took the Green and as many liked the high side, misfortunte saw No 22b Bo Baker finished for the evening as he backed hard into No 3 corner wall. From the redraw and a outside Pole Start, No 22m Jesse Baker wired the 25 Lap Feature. No 19 Ronnie Smith was running a fine 2nd until they approached the back of the pack and a bump spun bith him and No 19t Reinbold bringing out the Yellow Flag. Thus No 2 Stephen Nix of Santa Fe, NM moved up from 4th and chased Jesse to the Checker. The rest of the Top 10 were Auito, Duskin, Sussex, Mattson, No 40x Scott Box, No 79 Stultz?, Ronnie Smith and Mitchell. Reinbold took the 1st Heat from Ronnie Smith and Jesse Baker. 2nd heat Winner was Bob Baker ahead of Williams and Stultz. The 3rd was Auito over Nix and Sussex. NMMRA travels to WHITE SANDS SPEEDWAY next Sat. JUNE 5th. See Yah there. J. W.

#77 Treharn Captures Win

Saturday afternoon saw the return of our the 2007 NMMRA Rookie of the Year Colt Treharn as he took the $1,000 1st Prize @ THUNDER RACEWAY, Show Low, Arizona. Unfortunately after the drop of the Green for the 20 Lap Feature, it went Red in No 3 corner as 01 Larry Stoerkel rolled after contact with #26 Randy Smith, sending both to the Pits. Track Promoter decided to water the Top side to help settle the dust. The restart saw Treharn chase Polesetter 40x Scott Box in the A REAL MUFFLER Machine and by midway had his CHAMPION HEATING and A/C ride into the lead and was now being chased by 22m Jesse Baker of Grants, NM. Treharn took the Win over Jesse Baker, Box, 22b Bo Baker and 12 Josh Grady from Farmington, NM. Rounding out the Top 10 were the PERFORMANCE PLUS Team Cars of 21p Paul Whitehead of Albuquerque, NM and 2 Stephen Nix of Santa Fe, NM, 62 Bill Mitchell, F2 L. C. Kesterson of Aztec, NM and 17 Stephen Spiak. We had 2 10 Lap Heat Races with 8 cars each. 1st Heat was given to Treharn after Bo Baker was docked 2 Positions for hitting the cone, thus moving him to 3rd behind Stoerkel. They were followed by 99 Chuck Jackson and Whitehead. 48 Jerry Higginbotham, 10w Tim West and 19 Ronnie Smith all dropped out with motor issues. Jesse Baker won the 2nd Heat ahead of Randy Smith, Box, Grady, Nix, Spiak, Kestersom and Mitchell. NMMRA races again Sat. May 8th at THUNDER RACEWAY and it is now scheduled for a Night Race. See yah there. J. W.
